Parish Day to Be Celebrated in Reņķa Garden

Parish Day – a celebration, in which representatives of Ventspils region are proud of their cultural and historical heritage, while Ventspils residents and city guests enjoy the goods brought from the countryside – will take place in Reņķa Garden on September 1.

The event will begin at 11:00, and it will be hosted by Rita and Valdis Lūriņš, who will invite visitors to watch the concert programme. Ventspils regional folk dance collectives and dancers from Lithuania will perform, as well as band "Zeļļi", senior men's choir "Baltie bērzi" of Valmiera Culture Centre and senior mixed vocal ensemble "Dziesmotā senatne" of Valmiera Parish Culture House.

Children will be offered outdoor games, they will be delighted by the bigger and smaller animals of the mini zoo "Buki" and "Usma", there will be a market of rural goods, the hostesses will bring various delicacies prepared using old recipes. Visitors will be able to taste soups and porridges, buy bread and honey, meat and dairy products, fish, vegetables and fruits, and learn about permaculture. There will be handicrafts offered, knitters will be happy to tell you how their work was made, a women's hat show and a national costume parade will also take place. Representatives of cooperative "Talsu novada garša" will arrive as guests, there will be a chance to meet many domestic producers and watch how butter and cheese are made.

Everyone is welcome to relax for five hours - to watch, taste and enjoy, as the celebration offers things to do for young and old. Admission fee for adults - 2 euros, for children under the age of seven years - free.
