Saldus History and Art Museum of Janis Rosenthal

Art and history exhibitions are arranged in a small exhibition hall. The history expositions are based on the characteristic feature for the city of Saldus – about its being founded three times from anew, but invariably on the banks of the Ciecere River. After the devastating years of the plague and war, residents returned here again to set up their living place with another scope and meaning.
Here one can see evidence of the ancient Cours’ castle on the Saldene castle mound. The museum exhibits works of classics of Latvian fine arts and old masters, as well as modern Latvian artists.
