23.08.2021 - 11:07
On 27 August 2021, in the evening, the residents and guests of the city are welcome to take a Friday evening walk through the city streets, discovering the most beautiful places, squares and parks. We will carry on the spring walk, and the moving objects located throughout the city will be complemented by musicians, dancers and a wide range of activities that encourage us to always be on the move.

The winery "Windau Wines", in collaboration with the Ventspils Market, are organizing the Wine Festival on the Market Square. From 19:00 until midnight, anyone interested will be able to try interesting wine made in Latvia, learn details of wine selection and bouquet, dance and be part of a photo shooting. Those who bring their own wine glass to the wine tasting, will receive a special discount for wine produced by "Windau Wines". The Wine Festival will be complemented by collective singing together with the choirs of the Ventspils Culture Centre.
Just around the corner, in the House of Crafts, from 18:00 to 21:00, the dance studio "Marijas deju studija" and the Comedian Corporation School will present their own interpretation of the concept "On the Move". Also, the visitors will be pleasantly surprised by the demonstration of the films "Kurzemes amatnieku tradīcijas" ("Artisan Traditions in Kurzeme") and "Ventspils šefpavāru garšas parade" ("Parade of Tastes by the Chefs of Ventspils"), an exposition of artisan tools in the artisan's shed and a photo exhibition of the photo club "Moments" in the yard of the House of Crafts.
From 18:00 to 23:00, however, the very heart of the old town, namely, the Town Square, will become an exploratory portraying workshop, offering the discussion "Move and Dare Yourself!" with the participation of Dace Kolāte and Lana Švarca. The talented jazz pianist Kristaps Vanadziņš will create a musical portrait of the participants, whereas the creation of the gallery of musical portraits will be carried on by Elza Rozentāle and Kaspars Zemītis. At the end of the evening, the alternative post-folk band "Zāle" will take the stage, filling the Town Square with their music. Also, we have prepared a little something for the youngest participants - a windmill workshop, where they will be free to let their creativity flow.
Motion goes far beyond the body and mind, extending to music. On the square Dzirnavu laukums, the vocal ensembles of the Ventspils Culture Centre "Mazā prinča planētas", "Cita planēta", "Mundus" and the women's choir "Venda" (choral conductors: R. Tālberga and A. Niedre) will show us how to combine all that in motion. The contemporary dance studios "Prieks" (instructor: E. Ponfiļonoka) and "Skorpions" (instructor: I. Spodiņuka), on the other hand, will move to the rhythm of the contemporary dance, whereas DJ Slīmests Slaists will give a musical performance that will make not only the vinyl, but also the visitors spin.
The educational initiative "Ziedoņa klase" of the Imants Ziedonis Foundation "Viegli" will offer a wide range of educational activities, where the children, teenagers and anyone interested will be able to learn more about the personality and work of Imants Ziedonis in an unusual way - through games, such as the breakout game "Pranks and Fairy Tales", photo orienteering and the creative workshop "The Potato Field Radio".
In the information tent of the Ventspils Tourism Information Centre (TIC), everyone is welcome to learn news about the city and tourism. The children, on the other hand, will definitely enjoy the creative workshops near the TIC tent.Everyone is welcome to move their body and mind on the square Jaunpilsētas laukums. During the Friday walk, from 18:30 to 20:00, the square Lielais laukums will become a dancefloor, where the leading instructors Katerina and Artūrs from "Bachata Rīga" will help you master the basics of the calm, yet sensual dance of bachata in a friendly, informal atmosphere.
From 20:00 to 21:30, the amphitheatre of the Concert Hall "Latvija" will host an evening ball for those who are ready to dance their feet off. The Ventspils Senior Big Band will bring joy to the audience and themselves, performing both world classics and original compositions. Of course, the popular Latvian music always occupies a special place in their musical programme.
Afterwards, the band "Los Nens" will take the stage, making the audience dance to Spanish and Latin rhythms. "Los Nens" is a unique band performing Spanish and Latin music, and its lead vocalist Javier Fernández Cruz is Spanish, but Latvia has been his second home for more than 10 years now. At the end of the evening, DJ Egmonts will give a musical performance.
A certificate area will be located at the stage, i.e., at the entrance in this area, the visitors will be required to present an interoperable certificate as a proof that a person has been vaccinated or recovered.
