There are a number of reasons to visit Ventspils ... Sometimes, upon arrival in the city, the city guests have only a little time, but they wish to see the city highlights and to learn more about the city. The Tourism Information Centre has developed a guide that will help the city guests to navigate between the city highlights and capture the city atmosphere, even if it is a small fracture of it.
The Promenade of Ostas Street in Ventspils, also called the Venta riverside, attracts both the city guests and locals. Here, one can enjoy several city highlights, including the Castle of the Livonian Order, which is the oldest building in Ventspils and at the same one of the oldest medieval strongholds in Latvia, as well as the beloved tour boat "Hercogs Jēkabs", the monument of Kr. Valdemārs, the figural flower beds "Ladybirds", etc. The Promenade of Ostas Street, which was reconstructed more than a year ago, has grown increasingly popular among those who enjoy taking strolls, as it reveals a panorama of the river Venta, the gateway to the sea, the historic port warehouses, the impressive collection of spar buoys and floats, and the exhibited pilot boat "Rota".

The Seaside Park is a popular walking area for families and active leisure enthusiasts. In addition to the great number paths and trails, two special trails wind their way through the park - the Anchor Trail, which features the largest collection of anchors in the Baltic States, and the Jungle Trail, appreciated especially by children, where they can climb and crawl just like in a real jungle. During the season from May till October, the narrow-gauge railway train "Mazbānītis" operated by the Seaside Open-Air Museum runs through the Seaside Park.

The square "Lielais laukums" has become a new and scenically attractive city centre. The fountain "Frigate "Whale"" located next to the Concert Hall "Latvia" adds to the beautiful and modern features of the city, while in the dark, it lights up, allowing the visitors and passers-by capture the extraordinary atmosphere. From the ten fountains located at different sites across the city, this is the most impressive one. The Concert Hall "Latvija", on the other hand, was opened in 2019, and it is renowned for the two unique world-class musical instruments - the manual acoustic concert hall organ and the currently largest vertical concert grand piano.

When crossing the bridge over the river Venta, the new building with outstanding architecture - the Science Centre "VIZIUM" - which reflects the sunlight, cannot go unnoticed. Currently, the building can be observed only from the outside, but the Science Centre will open its doors to the visitors at the beginning of the next tourist season.
The Southern Pier Promenade is a popular place to take walks all year round. It is the best place to feel what it's like to live by the sea. Upon arrival in Ventspils, the sailors are greeted by the Lighthouse of the Southern Pier and the Sailor Cow, whereas those who enjoy walks along the Southern Pier will be able to feel the might of the Baltic Sea. In the autumn, the wind swirls the sand, but in the summer, the sky is painted by beautiful sunsets.
The snow hill "Lemberga hūte" brings together both the locals and city guests all year round. In the summer, a number of attractions are available to the visitors of the Adventure Park, while in the winter, the snow hill "Lemberga hūte" is open for visitors in the Adventure Park. If there is no time for activities, you can enjoy your time simply climbing the hill. A total of 385 steps lead to the hilltop, which reveals the most beautiful panorama of the Region Kurzeme, when standing next to the stag sculpture.
