Christmas at Ventspils Museum

The end of the year is always a busy time – dwarfs, children, and adults are on a holiday rush, making gifts and decorations.

The air is filled with the scent of gingerbread, and everybody is getting into the holiday spirit. Ventspils Museum invites everyone to have some real Christmas fun and go for an adventure, celebrating Saint Nicholas Day in the castle, decorating a Christmas tree in H. Dorbe Museum, taking a Christmas journey, and listening to stories in the House of Crafts, as well as participating in the exciting festive online activities offered by the museum education officers at Ventspils Museum. At the Small School of Comedians operating in the House of Crafts, you will be able to meet the schoolmaster Grandmother Elf, but at the end of the holiday, you are welcome to celebrate the Christmas of the Little Locomotive Mazbānītis.
Traditionally, we celebrate the Saint Nicholas Day at the Castle of the Livonian Order. On Saturday and Sunday, from 4 to 5 December, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., everyone is welcome to follow the tracks of dwarfs and make fun discoveries. Entrance with the museum tickets.
On Friday, 17 December, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., everyone is welcome to decorate the Christmas tree in the Dorbe garden at the Herberts Dorbe Museum "Senču putekļi. Those present will have the opportunity to decorate the Christmas tree of the Dorbe Museum with their favourite alphabet letters and enjoy real Christmas mood. You can either take your letter-shaped decoration with you or make one right here. Entrance free of charge upon previous registration, calling 29999653.
From 11 to 23 December, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., you are welcome to go for a holiday journey, with special surprises on Saturdays. Entrance with the museum tickets. On Sundays and Mondays, the House of Crafts is closed to visitors.
On Saturday, 25 December, at 4 p.m., everyone, especially families with children, are invited to the performance "The Winter Tale" on the yard of the House of Crafts. Participation by the travelling circus "Beztemata". The circus performers, together with the spectators, will perform three Christmas stories by Margarita Stāraste - "Why Does the Snow Shimmer?", "Christmas Night in the Kitchen", and "The Christmas of the White Rabbit". In between the performances, the spectators will have the opportunity to complete tasks to prove their strength, wisdom, agility, and diligence, participating in a lottery, activities, games, and collective singing. On Saturday, 25 December, from 11 p.m., everyone is welcome to celebrate the Christmas of the small locomotive Mazbānītis at the Seaside Open-Air Museum, taking a walk within the territory of the Seaside Open-Air Museum, visiting the decorated Boat House, and going for a ride by the small locomotive Mazbānītis, which is decorated with Christmas lights.
All bodies of Ventspils Museum are operating in the "green mode".
Throughout December, the museum education officers at Ventspils Museum invite everyone to participate in their online activities - the Christmas game "No Points, No Snow Man" and the museum-pedagogical programmes "A Gift to the Christmas Tree of the Castle" and "A Poem at the Christmas Tree". Ventspils Museum offers a new training programme at the Small School of Comedians operating in the House of Crafts, where the schoolmaster Grandmother Elf will teach the families how to celebrate Christmas properly.
