On Wednesday, 29 December, at 7:00 p.m., the Concert Hall “Latvija” offers a New Year’s concert “The New Era” performed by the women’s choir of the Ventspils Culture Centre “Venda”. The outstanding female voice performance will be complemented by the performance of the special guests – the band “Sudden Lights”.
The choir “Venda” and the band “Sudden Lights” to perform in a single concert
The concert programme is a result of a new musical collaboration, created as a finishing touch to the traditional Advent concerts by the women's choir "Venda" and events over the 45+2 years of the existence of the choir, inviting the popular band "Sudden Lights".
Under the direction of the artistic directors Anitra Niedre and Rudīte Tālberga, the repertoire of the previous years will sparkle up like refreshing champagne in celebration of the anniversary of the choir. The compositions by Ēriks Ešenvalds often performed at international contests, songs performed at the "Wars of Choirs" organized within the Song Festival, as well as the melodies heard at the traditional Advent concerts will join the past, the present, and the future era in our lives.

The band "Sudden Lights" will take the stage to perform its hits that have conquered the charts of radio stations, as well as popular songs, such as "The Suburban Waltz", "Silence", and "On This Side of the Fence", joining the choir in collective singing. The band members are Andrejs Reinis Zitmanis (vocal), Kārlis Matīss Zitmanis (guitar), Kārlis Vārtiņš (bass guitar), and Mārtiņš Matīss Zemītis (percussion instruments).
