The New Year's Eve Race will take place

At the moment, we are in a situation, when we have to observe restrictions for ensuring health and safety of all of us, but the existing situation allows us to be active in fresh air, so on Friday, 31 December, at the entrance of the Basketball Hall of the Olympic Centre “Ventspils”, the traditional “New Year's Eve Race” will take place.

This year, the New Year's Eve Race will be divided into two races:
  • At 11:00, the 3 km women's race and 5 km men's race with time control will be started.  The race will be organised in epidemiologically safe environment or observing the "green" safety mode, and previous registration for the race is obligatory. The registration application shall be sent to the e-mail address sporta.parvalde@ventspils.lv until 30 December 2021, 14.00 o'clock, indicating the participant's name, surname, year of birth and phone number.      
Receiving of starting numbers of participants will take place on 31 December starting from 10.00 o'clock, and participants are kindly asked to receive their starting number timely. Prizes will be awarded to runners who will complete the race with time control - six fastest women in the 3 km race and six men in the 5 km race. Also various surprises for participants of the race will be provided. 

  • At 21:00, the 1 - 5 km race without previous registration and without time control will be started.  Everyone regardless the age is invited to participate in this race. Each participant will receive a starting number, as well as a diploma, where each participant will have a chance to indicate the completed distance and finishing time. Receiving of starting numbers will start from 11.00.
The event is organised within the framework of the EU project "Measures for Improvement of Health and Disease Prevention in the Local Community of Ventspils"!

It is pleasing that over the years the race has become very popular and each year gathers runners from all around Latvia. The "New Year's Eve Race" has its history, which was started by students of the athletics coach Andrejs Dogagovs.
