The pearls of industrial cultural heritage - the Oviši, Užavas and Akmenrags lighthouses managed by the Freeport of Ventspils Authority – will open their doors to visitors once again on 1 April.

As part of the measures to manage the spread of Covid-19 and to ensure the safety of lighthouse staff and visitors, no visitors were allowed for several months at the Oviši, Užavas and Akmenrags lighthouses. From 1 April, the restrictions will be lifted at the lighthouses, which will once again welcome enthusiasts of industrial heritage and hydrographic history.  

The Freeport of Ventspils Authority is responsible for preserving and maintaining Latvia's oldest lighthouse - the Oviši Lighthouse, the romantic Užava Lighthouse and the Akmenrags Lighthouse, which is the most remote from settlements. Recognising their value and the interest of the public, the Freeport of Ventspils Authority has made them available for public viewing. All three lighthouses are included in the list of state-protected cultural monuments, and they continue to function not only as signs of attractions, but as lighthouses too.
