Easter Celebration in Children’s Towns

On Easter Sunday, 17 April, a play “Who Lays the Easter Eggs?” by Ināra Šteinberga, staged by a group of young people from Ventspils, is to be performed for the youngest visitors the at 11:00 a.m. in the Children’s Town and at 3:00 p.m. in the children’s park “Fantāzija”.

The visitors are welcome to bring their most beautifully decorated egg and their own Easter bunny, to make a nest, to sing the most beautiful Easter songs, to compete in egg rolling, and to learn more about other Easter traditions together with the folklore ensemble "Laipa". In the performance, the focus will be on our traditional Easter customs that are nowadays intertwined with the favourite Easter symbol - the Easter Bunny. The story takes place in a farm, where the Easter Bunny quietly approaches the farm from one side of the garden, in order to make all preparations for the Easter. However, he is intercepted by a dog that has no idea of the Easter celebration. Both of them start discussing the Easter traditions, and they are soon enough joined by other farm residents. During the performance, the visitors will learn about the special gifts to be received by Ilzīte. The playwright Ināra Šteinberga addresses the actors: "Have a large, large audience and loads of fun! Enjoy what you are doing and bring joy to others!"
