We are proud of our traditions! Through the centuries, Latvians have preserved their Easter tradition - the swinging on the Easter. According to the ancient beliefs, swinging on the Easter brings by several practical benefits, e.g., avoiding oversleeping throughout the entire year, the protection against evil spirits or bites of mosquitoes and horseflies, etc.Did you know that ...?Swinging is a magical ritual that symbolizes the swinging and dancing of the Sun on the Easter morning. It gives the Sun a good swing thus helping it to climb the mountain of heaven.The Local Government of Ventspils has been improving the urban infrastructure for many years now. Swings are currently set up at several dozen different places throughout the city, such as the Blue Flag Beach, the park "Reņķa dārzs", the Seaside Park, the Children's Town, the Children's Park "Fantāzija", the Open-Air Museum, sports grounds, yards of apartment houses, etc. This year, right before the Easter, a new set of swings have been set up on the playground of Kuste-Garden.
