In preparation of kicking off the summer tourism and cycling season in Ventspils

On Saturday, 7 May, at 11:00 a.m., in the Adventure Park, the traditional exciting bike ride will mark the opening of the summer tourism and cycling season in Ventspils.
On Saturday, 7 May, at 11:00, in the Adventure Park, the traditional exciting bike tour will mark the opening of the summer tourism and cycling season in Ventspils. This year, the slogan of the bike tour is "Towards the Brightness of the Spring".
The cyclists are accordingly encouraged to decorate both their bikes and outfit. As usual, the cyclists with the most interesting decorations will receive special prizes! The participants will be awarded in six different nominations, whereas the largest teams will also receive a certificate of appreciation.
Two cycling tracks will be available: a children's track of 2.1 km and a track of 8.6 km.
Children's track (2.1 km): starting line in the Adventure Park - Saules iela - Pionieru iela - Ganību iela - Krustkalnu iela - finish line in the Adventure Park.
Long track (8.6 km): starting line in the Adventure Park - Saules iela - Lielais prospekts - Kroņu iela - Loču iela - K. Valdemāra iela - Ostas iela - Prāmju iela - Kuldīgas iela - Ganību iela - Krustkalnu iela - finish line in the Adventure Park. Pre-registration is not required. At the gathering point at the main entrance to the Adventure Park, the Little Bee and the Ladybug will welcome and cheer up the youngest cyclists to the sound of merry music. After the bike tour, the singers of the pop studio "Jūras akmentiņi" will entertain the participants with musical performances. After the bike tour, all participants will receive a special certificate and a sticker, and they will have the opportunity to try the Power Porridge.

The attractions in the Adventure Park will be available to the visitors all day long. Children who have completed the children's track will be able to use one of the attractions free of charge. In order to ensure safe and convenient start for everyone, the participants will be divided into three lanes, on a voluntary basis. All lanes will be separated from each other. The persons in charge will coordinate the start on each lane.

10:00 - 10:15 - gathering of the participants of the children's bike tour.
10:15 - start of the children's bike tour (2.1 km).
10:30 - finish of the children's bike tour.
10:00 - 13:00 - creative workshops for children and activities organised by the Tourism Information Centre.
10:30 - 11:00 - concert for children. Musical performances by the pop studio "Jūras akmentiņi".
Track of 8.6 km:
10:30 - 10:55 - gathering of the participants of the bike tour.
10:40 - 10:55 - musical performance by the brass ensemble "Ventspils Brass".
10:55 - speech of the Chairman of the Municipality of the State City of Ventspils.
11:00 - start of the bike tour. Track of 8.6 km.
11:20 - receiving of certificates and stickers. The participants are welcome to try the Power Porridge.
12:20 - 12:35 - awarding of the participants in different nominations and raffle of the main prize.
Safety comes first!
Please note that all participants are required to wear a helmet to prevent severe injuries during the ride. No cyclist is immune to making accidental mistakes. Between a scratched and cracked helmet and a head injury, choose the former one! In addition, the law requires all children under the age 12 to wear a helmet.The event is organised within the EU project 'Measures for the Promotion of Public Health and Disease Prevention in Ventspils'.
Traffic restrictions
Please note that there might be traffic restrictions and street closure on the cycling track from 10:00 to 12:00. Given that the public transport is to be restricted, bus delays are possible.
