On 31 May 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the order of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development “On the supported municipal high-readiness targeted grant investment projects in 2022”, in the framework of which funding for construction of the Toboggan Track on the ski hill “Lemberga hūte” in Ventspils has been granted.
State funding for construction of the Toboggan Track in Ventspils has been approved
On the ski hill "Lemberga hūte" in Ventspils, it is planned to build a high-class toboggan track, which will be one of the best in Europe. The new track will be open throughout the year regardless of weather conditions, also during precipitation. It will be approximately 800 meters long and have 26 toboggans. Other toboggan tracks available in Latvia are unable to offer such an option, because they cannot ensure appropriate braking during precipitation. Also improvement and greening of the adjacent territory is planned in the framework of the construction project.

From six to eight new jobs will be created as a result of implementation of this project. It is planned that the infrastructure developed as a result of the project implementation - the toboggan track - will be leased out in an open lease procurement procedure to a merchant that will pay a lease fee to the municipality for management of the toboggan track.

The construction project of the toboggan track is a high-readiness municipal investment project "Development of new tourism service in Ventspils city", prepared by the municipal institution "Ventspils Komunālā pārvalde", where the state budget funding in the project's eligible costs is 1'600'000 EUR.
