Ventspils Science Centre VIZIUM will be opened with an extensive event programme

The long-awaited moment has come! Already on this weekend, on 18 June, at 12.00 o'clock, solemn opening of the Science Centre VIZIUM will take place, offering an extensive festive programme.
The birthday of the Science Centre will be celebrated with diverse free activities and workshops near the Science Centre building, and the festive atmosphere and musical accompaniment will be ensured by the ambassador of VIZIUM - DJ Toms Grēviņš.
The new, long-awaited Science Centre VIZIUM will be opened at 12.00 o'clock with an address by the Mayor of Ventspils Jānis Vītoliņš and the Director of Ventspils Digital Centre Elīna Kroņkalne. Whereas in the territory of the Science Centre various interesting free activities will be prepared for visitors of all ages.During the opening event, everybody will have an opportunity to view spectacular science shows and experiments on the stage at 12.30, 13.45 and 15.00 o'clock. Ventspils Digital Centre will have prepared several technical creative workshops, where visitors will have a chance to play robot football, solve a Minecraft task, make own keychain and flashlight! Various activities and surprizes will be prepared also by the Centre for Young Researchers of Natural Sciences (Ventspils University of Applied Sciences), Ventspils Design Workshop RADE, Brain Games, Ventspils Youth House and Elektrum.
The activity is implemented within the framework of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism programme 2014 - 2021 "Research and Education", activity "Innovation Centres", project "Foundation of an Innovation Centre in Ventspils".

Everybody will have an opportunity to enjoy active movement and feel adrenaline in a laser tag team game both in the game polygon, and in the virtual reality. If somebody will not feel confident enough to participate in the game, there will be a chance to train and try one's target shooting skills. Visitors will also be invited to compete on a car racing simulator and on a radio controlled car track. Also the face painting beloved by the smallest ones will be available.
VIZIUM will also have prepared prizes for the most attractive visitors, who will reflect their participation in the birthday of the Science Centre on their social network profiles, using a hashtag #atklājVIZIUM.These and many other activities will be available free of charge near the Science Centre from 12.00 - 16.00 o'clock, whereas the Science Centre itself will be open from 12.00 - 19.00. In order to ensure that as many visitors as possible are able to be among the first to view and try the exhibits of the Science Centre, the visit time of the exhibition hall will be limited to 2h per one visit on the opening day. All activities organised near the Science Centre will be free of charge, whereas visiting the exhibition of the Science Centre will be possible by buying a ticket at the Ticket Office of the Science Centre according to the indicated pricelist.
