Ventspils Music Library offers the class "Piano Master of His Own" (for grades 1 to 9, classes will be adapted to the age of the participants. Language: Latvian, Russian. Lecturer: I. Aulmane). With the Makey Makey Classic Kit for young inventors, any object (e.g., a banana, plum, kiwi, ruler, foil, water in a bowl, etc.) can be turned into a touch-sensitive keyboard to create a piano with 6 possible sounds. In the classes for younger children, they will learn about sound and noise and make their own digital piano from different objects. In the intermediate age group, on the other hand, children will sequence sounds from C to A, while the older classes will play a simple melody. In accordance with the level of perception of the age group, the class also includes various topics of life science and physics. Through experiments, children learn which materials do and do not conduct electricity, why one should not swim or stand under a tree during lightning storms, and why does an entire string of Christmas lights fail when a single bulb burns out. The class is free of charge, and the participants are required to bring fruits of their choosing (apples, bananas, kiwis, etc.).
