Jūrkalne will host a sea-shore fishing festival

The 12th sea-shore fishing festival and 11th Latvian Sea Fishing Championship (national category) will be held in Jūrkalne on October 15, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The purpose of the event is sea-fish fishing, exchange of experience, and promotion of environmental protection and taking care of nature among fishermen.
The competition will be attended by about 100 two-member teams. The team with the heaviest catch will become the champion of Latvia. The winner, runner-up and third best team will be awarded with championship medals and prizes. There will also be surprise prizes. Mr. Egīls Draudiņš will be the chief judge of the competition.
On the day of the event, visitors are welcome to make shopping in the market at Vējturu House (starting from 1 p.m.) and, at 2 p.m., to watch a play of the Pāvilosta Amateur Theatre 'Iz senioru dzīves', ('From the Live of Seniors') directed by Marita Horna, based on the play by Māra Horna. After the play, a market activities will be opened for visitors in the funny company of public order guard Miervaldis Stīvais and inspectors Skaidrīte and Jautrīte. A concert by music group '4 KW' and dances will begin at 4 p.m., and, at 7 p.m., the award ceremony for participants and winners of the competition will take place at Vējturu House.
The festival is organised by IK "Marita J" and Latvian Fishing Sport Federation. Supported by SIA "Salmo", makskeresanaskarte.lv, Administration of Jūrkalne Parish and Jūrkalne Community Hall.
