Ventspils Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony to Take Place Soon

On Saturday, November 26, at 5 p.m., Ventspils Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on the Big Square (Lielais laukums).
Artists of the independent theatre group 'Kvadrifrons' and 'Laboratorium Science School' will meet us with a theatrical performance and they will also have an important task - to turn on the lights on the Christmas tree - and, of course, they will be up to this task since the Ventspils mayor, Santa Claus and all the guests will come to help them!
The event program features performance by actors of the independent theatre group 'Kvadrifrons' Ance Strazda and Āris Matesovičs, while Laboratorium Science School will surprise all the guests with its experiments that will help find to answers to the questions "Where does snow live in summer?", "Why are icicles so delicious?", "Is the mist a fallen cloud?", and "How does light come to us?".
After the lights on the tree are switched on, both young and adult residents of Ventspils will be invited to enjoy the festive fun in a merry atmosphere created by actors of the National Theatre, Zane Dombrovska and Egils Melbārdis who will sing winter songs. Come and help to turn on the lights on the Christmas tree, dance with your family, buy a holiday gingerbread, meet the Christmas characters and finally go to see the beauty of the decorated city!

As reported earlier, the institution Ventspils Komunālā pārvalde in cooperation with the company PSIA "Ventspils Labiekārtošanas kombināts" installed a 17 meter long fluffy Christmas tree on the Big Square. This year, our Christmas tree originates from the Zūri Forest District. Around 3,200 strings of light bulbs decorate the city's trees and their total length is about 38.5 km. The beloved Chinese zodiac signs will be located in the Great Avenue (Lielais prospects), while a new decorative group 'Drums' will be installed on the Great Square, next to the Rabbit zodiac sign which will be the symbol of 2023.
