The Magic of the Night of the Ancient Fire on the Steep Bank of Staldzene
Symbolising the essence of the sea and its diverse nature, visitors will be able to enjoy a specially created video installation shot on 16mm black and white negative film throughout the evening. The artist is Elīna Matvejeva. Enjoy atmospheric music performed by songstress Alise Joste. The group "JUUK" - Edgars Šubrovskis, Sniedze Prauliņa and Oskars Jansons - will take care of well-known and lesser-known musical memories. Ieva Matveja will provide electronic ambient romance.

Alise Joste has been on the Latvian music scene for more than 10 years and has released three critically acclaimed and award-winning albums. On the evening of 26 August, Alise will perform songs from her latest album "Šākātā" as well as earlier compositions.

"JUUK" is a collaboration of well-known musicians from the alternative scene who share a passion for the alternative, dark folk and country - music that is rarely heard in Latvia. Unlike many other bands, "JUUK" has three songwriters and soloists - Sniedze Prauliņa (voice, flute), Edgars Šubrovskis (voice, guitars, bass) and Oskars Jansons (voice, guitars, banjo).

Ieva Matveja will close the evening with the refreshing sounds of electronica. As the artist herself describes it - ambient romanticism, an atmospheric soundscape for gentle contemplation.

In order to provide access to the "Night of the Ancient Fire" event on the Steep Bank of Staldzene to a wider audience, PSIA "Ventspils Reiss" will organise an additional bus service at 20.30 from Ābolu Street's stop in Gāliņciems. The return journey Staldzene - Ābolu Street will depart at 23.50. For those who have access to a bicycle, please use the newly built cycling path, which extends from the city all the way to the Steep Bank of Staldzene. The event is organised by the Ventspils Culture Centre and supported by the Ventspils State City Municipality. The event is supported by the project competition "Kurzeme Culture Programme 2023" of the State Culture Capital Foundation's target programme "Historical Latvian Lands Development Programme".
