Andrejs Osokins "From Vasks to Vītols. The Greats of Latvian Piano Music"
18.09.2024 - 12:34
Pianist Andrejs Osokins, opening the autumn season of the concert hall "Latvija," will premiere his new concert program dedicated to the great figures of Latvian piano music and the legacy they have left behind.

The program includes works by Pēteris Vasks, Emīls and Volfgangs Dārziņš, Lūcija Garūta, Jānis Ivanovs, Emīlis Melngailis, Valentīns Utkin, Imants Zemzars, and Jāzeps Vītols. A special highlight will be the premiere of a piece composed specifically for Andrejs Osokins by Raimonds Tiguls. This program will be performed both on a concert grand piano and the unique vertical piano by Dāvids Kļaviņš, which is one of the greatest treasures of the "Latvija" concert hall.
Pianist Andrejs Osokins explains: "Each composer included in the concert program is like a gem in the kaleidoscope of Latvian classical music. Working with this music, I was influenced by the spirituality of the composers - by the spirit and the qualities of character that each possesses, because great music is always permeated by a powerful personality with their own unique worldview."
