In November, at the Ventspils Science Center VIZIUM workshop series will explore the diverse palette of science

The Ventspils Science Center VIZIUM offers visitors the opportunity to complement their tour of the interactive exhibition halls with creative workshops that showcase the many facets of science. Attendees will investigate the connection between theater and science, experiment to uncover the mysteries of gravity, explore the wonders of the human body, and create unique transport constructions. The new science show, "Energy," will introduce electricity, voltage, and current in an engaging format.
In November, VIZIUM workshops will be held on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00 PM, with a different workshop theme each weekend:
November 2-3 – Science Palette: The Art of Movement This session will introduce historical transportation methods, as participants learn about various ways people have moved from point A to point B over time. Participants will design track constructions and program the smart Intelino train to travel to different destinations.
November 9-10 – Science Palette: Theater Behind the art of theater lies a foundation of science. Visitors will learn about different types of theater and its development from ancient times to the present. Participants will have the chance to create their own marionette and more!
November 16-17 – Science Palette: Gravity In this creative workshop, participants will explore and learn about gravity. Through experiments, children and adults alike will try to understand the invisible force that affects everything around us. With the help of engineering principles, they’ll create a device to lessen gravity’s impact.
November 23-24 – Science Palette: Art This unique art workshop combines experimental techniques with creativity. Visitors can not only paint but also experience the artistic process where the visible and invisible blend into a journey of creation.
November 30-December 1 – Science Palette: The Human Body The human body is a complex, precisely coordinated biological system where all organs and systems work in harmony to sustain life. Workshop participants will delve into fascinating aspects of the human body, studying their own lungs, fingerprints, and discovering which brain hemisphere is responsible for critical decisions versus daily creativity.
Additionally, everyone is invited to attend the science shows, held from Thursday to Sunday at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, starting in November:
12:00 PM – Science Magic School The Science Magic School is a mysterious and captivating place where science merges with the world of magic. Here, visitors learn practical "spells" and chemistry concepts through surprising discoveries, demonstrations, and enchanting educational experiences!
2:00 PM – Energy (New!) This science show will reveal how energy impacts us, covering electricity, voltage, and current—three vital elements present all around us but often overlooked. Attendees will watch a Tesla coil in action and discover the chemical process needed to launch a rocket.
Group reservations (10+ people) can be scheduled for science shows on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Visitors can attend VIZIUM's creative workshops and science shows independently of the exhibition hall.
From November 9 to 20, VIZIUM’s foyer will host a free creative activity to celebrate Latvia's Independence Day. Each visitor can create a 3D heart with a personal message to Latvia, which will then become part of a collective flag. This free workshop is open anytime during science center hours.
On weekends, VIZIUM’s friendly instructors will welcome young explorers to the "Young Researchers' Workshops" for STEM activities and games in the Young Researchers' Gallery. To learn more and sign up for workshops, visit this link.
From November 1 to March 31, VIZIUM's hours will be: Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 AM-7:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM-5:00 PM. The science center is closed on Mondays.
