Birdwatching Weekend in Ventspils

This year, Ventspils has organized a weekend dedicated to nature and bird lovers, inviting everyone to explore the local biodiversity and learn something new. On April 5th and 6th, two special events will take place – a birdwatching expedition at Būšnieku Lake and a birdhouse-making workshop.
Birdwatching Expedition at Būšnieku Lake
On Saturday, April 5th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, families with children and nature enthusiasts are invited to participate in a birdwatching expedition at Būšnieku Lake. During the event, participants will learn about the local birds and plants, including how to recognize them. The expedition will be led by experienced biologist and ornithologist Elīna Gulbe, who will share her knowledge and experience.

It is recommended to bring binoculars, drinking water, a light snack, weather-appropriate clothing, and comfortable footwear. For the younger participants, strollers, bicycles, or scooters are welcome.

Birdhouse Making Workshop On Sunday, April 6th, at 11:00 AM at the Children's Town and at 3:00 PM at the "Fantāzija" children's park, the traditional Birdhouse Making Workshop will take place. Participants will be entertained by the jester Ufo, and the pop group "Jūras akmentiņi" will perform their program "Bird Songs." Materials and tools will be provided for the workshop, but participants are also encouraged to bring their own tools. The birdhouses made during the workshop can be taken home and placed in their gardens, or handed over to local government employees, who will place them in city parks-Jurmala Park, Renķa Garden, or near Būšnieku Lake.
