05.04.2025 - 12:01
On Saturday, April 12, at 12:00, the opening of the newly built bike park will take place in Reņķa Garden, where everyone, regardless of age and experience, will be able to find a suitable track for themselves. The design of the Ventspils bike park is special and unique in that this will be the first such two-level track in Europe and the third in the World. This is the beginning of a new pumptrack era, setting a new challenge bar for future tracks and bike parks.

At the opening event, Latvia's top inline skaters, led by Nils Jansons, will participate in demonstration performances, along with skateboarders Juris Šantars and Kārlis Purvens, BMX freestyle riders Kristians Špons and Arturs Virdzinieks, and representative of the Ventspils Olympic team, Tomass Grīnbergs. Visitors will also be able to watch the best participants of the BTA Pumptrack Championship, including two-time winner Anatolijs Bervjačonoks. After the demonstrations, the track will be open to everyone interested.

The Velopark features three zones with tracks designed for different age groups and means of transport such as bicycles, inline skates, skateboards, and scooters:
  • The northern track - suitable for beginners and children.
  • The large southern track - features various hills, trick areas, a double turn, and a ride-through tunnel. The track is designed to reduce the risk of collisions.
  • The adventure track "BTA Velizinis" - modular elements imitate obstacles found in urban environments (stairs, potholes, curbs), helping beginners to develop riding skills.
With the grand opening, the Ventspils Velopark will be available free of charge to all visitors - tracks can be used by following safety guidelines and wearing protective gear. The Velopark area is equipped with park lighting and special spotlights. Thanks to this lighting, lessons and competitions can also be held in the evening hours. To ensure general order and compliance with safety rules, video surveillance has been installed in the Velopark. Come and try out this unique Velopark yourself!
