In spring, Ventspils transforms into an attractive destination where you can not only have a great time but also celebrate Easter in a colorful and festive way. This year, Easter activities in Ventspils will take place from April 14 to 21, with the main events scheduled for April 20 and 21. Throughout the city, you'll find vibrant Easter decorations. In the Great Square, five large-format eggs adorned with colorful insect patterns await visitors. Nearby, in Jaunpilsētas Square, you can enjoy decorative swings featuring bird figures and two balance swings. Meanwhile, at the Town Hall Square, don't miss the colorful Easter eggs painted by students of the Ventspils Art School, inspired by the fairy tales of Herberts Dorbe. In the heart of Pārventa, spring symbols-beautiful butterflies-have landed, adding a festive atmosphere to the area. As is tradition, swinging is a must during Easter! Be sure to check out the Tourism Information Centre's guide "Children's Playgrounds in Ventspils 2025" to find the perfect spots for a good swing session and to welcome summer with joy (and no mosquitoes!). You'll also find a Swing Guide located in Jaunpilsētas Square and the Pārventa center. Easter in Ventspils begins with creative activities to suit all tastes. The Gāliņciems Library invites the whole family to take part in an exciting Easter activity! From April 14 to 20, a geocaching game will take place in the library's surrounding area, where participants will search for hidden items and solve tasks to move forward. As a reward for completing the tasks, participants will have the opportunity to print one 3D item for free with librarian assistance. The winner will be chosen by raffle. In addition, the library will feature an exhibition of decorated trees showcasing festive-themed displays. The Ventspils Youth House is celebrating the arrival of spring with a creative and inspiring Easter egg decorating event! On April 16 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, everyone is invited to the Youth House to draw inspiration from different cultures and create beautifully decorated, unique Easter eggs. Materials for decorating will be provided, but guests are encouraged to bring their own boiled or store-bought eggs. From April 17 to 19, the "Vizium" Science Centre will host the creative workshop The Colorful Easter Lab, where participants can experiment, create, and experience the magic of Easter. Activities will include crafting laminated eggs, wooden bunny keychains, and other exciting Easter-themed decorations. More information and registration available [here]. On Good Friday, April 18 at 4:00 PM, the "Latvija" Concert Hall will host the concert Stabat Mater, featuring outstanding works of sacred music that create a powerful and reflective atmosphere. On Saturday, April 19 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Old Town Market Square will host a special Easter Fair, where visitors are welcome to enjoy Easter-themed activities, shop for festive decorations and treats. A special performance will be provided by the traveling Liepāja circus Beztemata, which will present the joyful show The Easter Bunny's Leap from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Little ones are invited to the Children's Library on April 19 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM for the fun workshop A Gift for the Easter Bunny. Children will read the tale How the Easter Eggs Became Colorful and decorate paper eggs. On April 20 at 11:00 AM in Children's Town and at 3:00 PM in the children's park Fantāzija, families with children can enjoy The Joyful Easter Adventure. The event will include games with friendly bunnies Pļāpītis and Baltļipītis, egg games, relays, dancing, and other exciting challenges. Parallel to this, creative workshops will offer opportunities to make Easter decorations and masks, and to participate in an Easter mask fashion show. The event is free of charge. Traditionally, the highlight of Easter celebrations will take place at the Seaside Open-Air Museum on April 20 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Visitors are invited to enjoy egg dyeing, swinging, games, and concerts by the choir Cantabile, the ensemble Tals' trimiš, and the ethno-folk group Ogas. There will be a market featuring local producers and craftsmen, creative workshops, horseback riding, and a visit to the Buki mini-zoo. Traditional craftsmen will demonstrate blacksmithing and weaving. From 12:00 to 1:00 PM, in the Livonian Homestead, the folklore group Laipa will present Easter traditions. Don't forget to bring your own Easter decoration to participate in the exhibition and a raffle. Throughout the day, the Little Train will also be running. Entry with museum tickets.
