The 16th Nationwide Nordic Walking and Walking Festival is already happening on August 9!

Latvia’s largest Nordic walking gathering — the 16th Nationwide Nordic Walking and Walking Festival — will take place this weekend, on August 9 at 11:00 AM in Ventspils Adventure Park.
This year's biggest novelty - the festival also invites walkers without poles to participate. Thus, the event has evolved into a Nordic walking and walking festival.
Based on the positive feedback from last year's route, this year we will Nordic walk and walk along the same trail. The start and finish zones, as usual, will be at the Adventure Park, and the route will pass along pedestrian paths through the Seaside Park and the Open-Air Museum area. The trail also includes a section along the Baltic Sea coast, and on the return path, participants can enjoy the Ventspils bike lanes running parallel to the Mazbānītis trail. Participants will complete one 7 km loop with various surfaces - asphalt, gravel, and seaside sand. Awards will be given to the 6 fastest male and 6 fastest female Nordic walkers overall. Walkers without poles will not have timekeeping. The festival rules can be viewed HERE.

All interested participants wishing to join the Nordic walking and walking festival are invited to register in the registration system HERE by August 7, 2025, at 17:00. Participation is free thanks to support from the European Social Fund Plus. The number of places is limited to a maximum of 200 participants. If this number is reached, registration may close earlier, so we encourage timely sign-up! If you register but later cannot participate, please inform us by emailing klubs@maratonaklubs.lv or calling +371 28253325. Walking or Nordic walking with friends and colleagues is much more fun, so we invite collective teams to register for the festival - the largest teams will receive surprise prizes!
After the finish, there will be a concert program and an opportunity to refresh with a hearty soup. As is tradition, every finisher - with or without poles - will receive a specially designed cap as a token of participation in the 16th Nationwide Nordic Walking and Walking Festival. The event is funded by the European Social Fund Plus project No. 4.1.2.2/1/24/I/005 "Implementation of events in Ventspils city for promoting local community health and disease prevention." The project is carried out by Ventspils City Council. All events organized within the project are free of charge.
