“The Night of Ancient Bonfires” on the Staldzene Cliffs in Ventspils

On August 30, at the Staldzene Cliffs, as part of the “Night of Ancient Bonfires,” a special musical experience will take place – Rihards Zaļupe, co-author of the music for the Oscar-winning film The Flow, together with one of Latvia’s brightest voices, Linda Leen, will perform a specially created collaboration, Ceremony. Hypnotic Soundscapes and Songs.
As Linda Leen describes the program: "This will be a braid of sounds by two different musicians, intertwining individually created music with sound elements from various world cultures, each other's voices and motifs from original songs, improvisation, and the overarching goal of the program - to guide the atmosphere so that together with the audience we cross our inner mountains to the other side."
The concert at the Staldzene Cliffs promises to become one of the highlights of the summer's finale - a synergy of nature's power, fire, light, and music. With nightfall, the natural gallery will feature the Luminous Art Exhibition Peace, showcasing large-format works created by artists from Latvia and Lithuania.

Linda Leen, often called a "musical chameleon," is known for her ability to move freely across genres, from pop and jazz to classical music. Her expressive and emotionally rich performances, along with her unique ability to merge energy, intellect, and personal storytelling in music, have made her one of Latvia's most beloved singers. Since the release of her debut album Let's Go Insane (2000), Linda has created five albums, three concert DVDs, won six Golden Microphone awards, and collaborated with internationally acclaimed artists, including members of Simply Red, Emmy Award winner Lolita Ritmanis, the band Brainstorm, and many others.
Rihards Zaļupe is one of today's most prominent Latvian composers and producers, with a wide-ranging creative spectrum - from symphonic and sacred music to electronic compositions and film scores. His music has been featured in many internationally recognized films, including The Pagan King, O2, and 1906, while his co-authorship in the film The Flow brought the prestigious Oscar and Golden Globe awards. Zaļupe is a six-time Golden Microphone winner and has been nominated for several international awards.
The event is organized by the Ventspils Culture Center, with the support of the Ventspils State City Municipality, Ventspils Freeport Authority, and AAS Balta.
