On Sunday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m. in the Concert Hall “Latvija" will feature a large-scale grand concert "FROM THE LAND OF LET’S. Baltic Unity Day", which will be attended by more than 200 singers from Latvia and Lithuania, Ventspils Chamber Orchestra, actress Zane Jančevska, flautist Andis Klučnieks, conductors Rasa Gelgotiene, Regina Maleckaite, Sandra Rimkute-Jankuviene, Judita Kjaulakīte, Ilze Valce and Aigars Meri.

Baltic Unity Day is celebrated in honor of the Battle of Saule (Battle of Sun) in 1236, a pivotal event in the history of the Baltic nations, symbolizing the courage and unity of the ancestors of Latvia and Lithuania. Since 2000, the Baltic Unity Day has been officially celebrated in both Latvia and Lithuania, recalling the shared history of the two nations. 

The central event of the Grand Concert will be the performance of the restored version of the oratorio "No letu zemes" (From the Land of the Let's) by the composer Jacob Yanchevsky (Jēkabs Jančevskis). The concert will feature a tribute to the prominent Lithuanian composer and painter Konstantīns Mikolajs Čurļonis, whose 150th birthday is being celebrated this year, as well as Latvian and Lithuanian folk songs.

Jacob Yanchevsky's oratorio "From the Land of the Let's" is a musical monument to the history of the Baltic nation. The composition centers Marta (Morta) from Madelāni in Latgale, wife of Mindaugas, the first crowned king of Lithuania. The authors of the story are Eva Mārtuža and Zane Jančevska, and the author of poetry: Lelde Stumbre. The oratorio explores historically patriotic themes, as well as the contrast between masculine and feminine - men's striving for power and women's longing for peace in order to preserve the family.

Mindaugas was the ruler and king of Lithuania, known for uniting the Lithuanian lands into one country and fighting against the Livonian Brothers of the Sword. The tomb of Mindaugas is probably located under the Basilica of Aglona. The chronicle of the 17th century Lutheran pastor Rīvijs mentions that in Aglona, while demolishing an unknown building, a marble slab was found with an inscription in Latin, stating that the Lithuanian ruler Mindaugas was buried there. On September 20, 2015, a monument to Mindaugas and Marta was unveiled in Aglona.

The grand concert "FROM THE LAND OF LET'S. Baltic Unity Day" will feature mixed choir of the Šilalė Cultural Center "Medvėgalis" and the youth choir "Cantado" (conductor Sandra Rimkute-Jankuviene), Lithuanian Radio and Television Youth Choir of the Vilnius Cultural Centre (conductor Regina Maleckaite), Vilnius University Mixed Choir "Gaudeamus" (conductor Rasa Gelgotiene) and the women's choir of the Klaipeda Fishermen's House of Culture "Dangė" (conductor Judita Kjaulakīte), Ventspils Culture Centre mixed choir "Līvzeme" (conductor Astra Plostniece), mixed choir "Ventspils" (conductor Aigars Meri), Ventspils Culture Centre women's choir "Venda" (conductor Rudīte Tālberga), RTU Liepaja Academy Women's Choir "Atbalss" (conductor Ilze Valce), Ventspils Culture Centre mixed choir "Kaiva" (conductor Ginta Rūse), Liepaja Folk Art Culture Centre mixed choir "INTIS" (conductor Ilze Valce).

September 14 at 7:00 p.m., Baltic Unity Day concert with the combined Latvian and Lithuanian choir will also be performed at the Klaipeda Cultural Centre "Žveju rūmai".

The concert is sponsored by the State Culture Capital Foundation, Ventspils City Council, Ventspils Culture Centre, Liepaja Folk Art and Culture Centre, Lithuanian State Culture Council, and Lithuanian Choir Union.
