Science Centre VIZIUM – a great autumn holiday destination

To explore the exciting world of science, the Ventspils Science Centre VIZIUM invites families to enjoy the adventure of its interactive exhibition hall and take part in a variety of STEM activities. In creative workshops, visitors will discover the world of senses; science shows will amaze with physics and chemistry experiments; and the youngest guests will experience discoveries in the “Little Explorers’ Workshops.”
Throughout the month, everyone is invited to take part in the creative workshop "The World of Senses" together with family and friends. Visitors will become explorers of their own bodies for a moment - testing the sensitivity of their fingers, the ability of ears to perceive sounds, and what the nose and tongue can tell us about the surrounding world. There will also be a chance to discover how human perception changes when one sense suddenly disappears and how the others help to compensate. The workshop takes place on Saturdays and Sundays at 13:00.
Visitors will also be delighted by the fiery science show "Before the Ashes" and the show "Journey Through Science", where science can be seen, heard, and experienced in all its splendor. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the science shows are available for groups of 10+ people with advance reservation.
As usual, during school holidays, the Ventspils Science Centre VIZIUM ensures fun and meaningful activities for children, offering them the chance to attend the IT School. This autumn, the theme is "Discover Yourself in the World". Children will take part in Little Doctors' Workshops, Minecraft and Roblox workshops, work with technologies, experiment, and join various creative activities. The program is designed for six-year-olds and students from grades 1-4. The IT School will take place on October 21, 22, and 23 from 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-15:00. Registration will be available on the VIZIUM website.
On October 31, the eve of All Saints' Day, from 14:00 to 17:00, VIZIUM will transform into a spooky creative place, where little and big "monsters" are invited to the themed event "HaloVIZIUM". Visitors can look forward to exciting activities, creative workshops, and a festive atmosphere in the VIZIUM foyer. The event is free of charge! On weekends, VIZIUM invites preschool-aged children to the "Little Explorers' Workshops", where friendly instructors guide them through discovery and exploration of different topics.
This month's theme is "Create and Show the World". The workshops take place on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30-12:30:
- October 4-5: "Nature's Wonder" - using leaves, plants, and other natural gifts, children will create small worlds inside glass jars.
- October 11-12: "Stop-Motion Animation" - children will learn the basics of stop-motion animation, using toys, natural materials, or self-made figures. Step by step, photographing movements, they will see how frames become a moving story, developing creativity and patience.
- October 18-19: "Autumn Play" - discovering the colors and shapes of nature, children will turn their ideas into material form, creating unique works of art inspired by autumn's gifts.
- October 25-26: "Puzzle Making" - children will draw and turn their artworks into puzzles they can assemble and play with themselves, developing creativity, motor skills, and logical thinking while enjoying their self-made games.
