26.01.2026 - 15:22
On February 14, from 12:00 to 17:30, the Ventspils Livonian Order Castle will host Medieval Readings on the theme “Saints and Sinners” and a Medieval daily life experience with the historical reenactment club Rodenpoys.

Legend has it that on St. Valentine's Day, birds choose their mates. Following this natural tradition, people created new beliefs: for example, depending on which bird a maiden sees on Valentine's Day, she will marry a man of a certain profession. If she sees a thrush, she will marry a priest; if a robin, a sailor; if a saint, a sinner.
The Livonian Order Castle invites everyone on Saturday, February 14, to listen to Medieval readings and take part in Medieval daily life activities. This year, the theme of the Medieval readings is Saints and Sinners. From 12:00 to 15:00 in the Castle Chapter Hall, visitors are invited to hear historians, natural scientists, theologians, and philosophers speak on the topic, including:
