Porridge Day at the Seaside Open-Air Museum – flavors, skills, and autumn adventures for the whole family

October 10 from 12:00 to 14:00 at the Ventspils Seaside Open-Air Museum (Ringa Street 2), Porridge Day will take place, inviting visitors of all ages to learn about ancient rural life skills, do their own work, and, of course, watch real porridge being made over an open fire.
The center of the event will be a large porridge pot, where bukstiņputra will be made - a thick porridge made from barley groats and potatoes, to which, according to tradition, delicious bacon is also added.
On Porridge Day, just watching will not be enough - visitors will be able to try out various tasks that were once common everyday life. There will be an opportunity to carry water with a carrier, grind grains with a grain grinder and participate in cooking porridge on a fire. Workshops and a quiz will test your knowledge, we will get to know the ingredients of porridge and learn something new about the usual products - grains, potatoes and onions. There will also be a task prepared for the little and curious visitors "Porridge Detective. The Case of the Missing Ingredient".

During the event, you will not only be able to participate and feast, but also enjoy the special atmosphere of the Seaside Open-Air Museum. The Asnate Horseback Riding Club will offer horse riding, and there will be an opportunity to take a ride on the museum's narrow-gauge railway with the Mazbānīte (ba ride with Mazbānīte and horseback riding - for an additional fee).
On Porridge Day, you will be able to follow the process of making porridge from grain to steaming porridge pot and enjoy the joy of working together in a beautiful, historic environment.
