Guide of cyclling routes in Kurzeme - Western Latvia

35 Cycling routes, including 16 routes marked with road signs, 10 towns, EuroVelo 10 an EuroVelo 13.
Kurzeme is situated in the western part of Latvia and borders Lithuania on the south. It is distinguished by the 390 km long and diverse coastline of the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Riga with its steep banks, stony seaside, protected dunes, and - most of all - the sandy beaches.
The region is rich in cultural heritage objects - castles and manors, old-towns, coastal fishermen villages, and ethnographic territories with ancient traditions, making Kurzeme stand out against other regions in Latvia. There are also more than 80 specially protected nature territories in Kurzeme, which are valued for their diverse range of species, biotopes, and landscapes, as well as high aesthetic, ecological and cultural value.
The Latvian list of UNESCO World Heritage objects includes Kuldīga Old Town, River Venta Valley, and Grobiņa Archaeological Ensemble. The ethnographic cultural space of Suiti people has been included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
The brochure includes 35 cycling routes, some of them are longer, some - shorter. But all routes will help you get to know the towns in Kurzeme, its nature, history, cultural heritage, and people better.
