Berghof Manor and Dairy Museum

In 1985 Mārtiņš Sesks, the Director of Liepāja Dairy Industrial Complex, has founded the Dairy Museum, in the former Sieksāte manor. He placed there the large-scale exposition including the award for the best export butter, given to his father Žanis Sesks by the English Queen.
Milk Museum is located in complex of Berghof Manor where guests are welcome. Comfy hotel rooms, organic and healthy meals in Rose tavern and relaxations in SPA rituals or coutry sauna. The neighbourhood is appropriate for Nordic walking, cycling, skiing. The park of the manor house offers camping for caravans and places for tents.
Visiting the Dairy museum, feel free to choose one of the excursions – Milk History (incl. exposition visit + tour to the estate) or Milky Way (incl. exposition visit + tour to the estate + short movie clip + cheese dairy exercise + butter making).
During the MILK STORY excursion our guides will tell you about the dairy industry in Latvia and will show you how the milk, sour-cream and butter are being produced, and what devices are used to help it. You will also be shown one of the most unique showpieces of the museum – the award for the best export butter, presented to Latvian dairy farmers by the Queen of England.
MILKY WAY is an interactive excursion. At the beginning of the tour you will see 25 minutes movie about the dairy industry, and then you will turn up your sleeves and go milk a cow. That’s right, there is sort of cow at the Dairy Museum, and her name is Gauja! She stands still and is ready to allow you to milk her, only if you are interested, of course. And there is more. From the collected milk you will take a cream and then, you will have to make butter. We guarantee you this exiting activity will lift your spirit!
Milk Museum is open daily from 9:00 to 18:00
