Padure Manor
Padure Manor is one of the most authentic 19th-century manors in Latvia.
Built around 1840, it has remained almost untouched to this day - preserving its original windows, doors, stoves, staircases, floors, and wall paintings. The manor is a national architectural monument and an outstanding example of Classicism architecture. It was built by Scottish merchant John Lewis Balfour. On the courtyard side lies a historical English park, whose main treasure is an ancient lime-tree alley with magnificent trees and a restored 19th-century flower vase.
The manor is located in the picturesque village of Padure, only 7 km from Kuldīga. Nearby is a romantic mill pond with a sandy beach and scenic fields perfect for peaceful walks. Padure Manor is not a museum in the traditional sense - it is a living space of history. Here, visitors can feel the atmosphere of the 19th century, admire the original interior details, and even step into a film scene, as the Latvian TV series "Pansija pilī" (Mansion Pension) was filmed here - with part of the film set still preserved and open for viewing.
