An online booking and payment system has been introduced to allow the visitors of the Ventspils Science Centre VIZIUM to purchase tickets online and to book their arrival at a specific time, thus ensuring that they will not have to wait in line when arriving at the Science Centre.

On Sunday, 18 September, the well-known Vilnius-based ensemble “Synaesthesis” will perform at the season opening concert “Autumn Works” at the Concert Hall “Latvija” in Ventspils, offering their Baltic chamber music programme.

You are kindly invited to Piltene to celebrate the first Ventspils Municipality festival “Looking Back Over the Years”, which is to take place on 3 September. From 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., together with the members of amateur collectives, everyone will be able to discover the culture and gastronomy of the Ventspils Municipality developed over the years. At 5:00 p.m., the amateur collectives will take the open-air stage to give a concert.

On Saturday, 27 August at 9:00 p.m., we welcome everyone to experience the magic of the “Night of Ancient Bonfires” at Staldzene bluff, which has become a popular tradition around the Baltic Sea. We will light bonfires symbolizing the unity of the nations around the sea, care for the sea and nature, and farewell to the summer. Various musical performances will contribute to the atmosphere.

On the evening of 26 August, the locals and city guests are invited to the Friday evening walk “A Ventiņ’ Thing!”. During the walk, we will present our special local dialect, namely, the deep Tamian subdialect, gather the locals from near and far, dance, sing, and play locally originated games, thus encouraging the youth to discover our values and to carry these values with them wherever they go. A thing of the locals!

To continue its annual tradition, which basically consists in indulging in modern rhythms and jazz music for one week, this summer, the Competence Centre for Vocational Education “Ventspils Music Secondary School” will once again organize the music festival “Ventspils Groove”. The festival will take place from 15 to 20 August.

The opening concert of the festival “LNSO Summer Camp” by Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) will take place on 19 August at 8:00 p.m. in the Concert Hall “Latvija”. The music of Santa Ratniece, Luciano Berio, György Ligeti, and Steve Reich will be performed by oboist Egils Upatnieks, pianist Rihards Plešanovs, Latvian Radio Choir singers, the LNSO, and conductor Guntis Kuzma.

On 20 August in Piltene, the Latvian 10k road run and Ventspils District Open Championship in 10k and 5k distances, including in a Nordic Walking 5k distance, are to take place. Children are also expected to participate, starting the run at 2:00 p.m., while adults will have two starts – the 5k run at 3:45 p.m. and the Nordic Walking 10k run at 3:55 p.m.

On 13 August, the Maurice Festival “In search of Maurice’s Treasure...” is to take place in Usma, Ventspils Municipality. The residents of Usma welcome everyone to relax in this beautiful area, enjoying activities for both adults and children.
